Any parent with children in orchestra is automatically
a member of Friends of the Orchestra. Participating as a member of the FOTO board is a very rewarding
experience, as we help to plan enrichment activities and fundraising to support these activities. We work
closely with our fantastic team of directors, and I guarantee you will never sit on a more congenial board!

FOTO is extremely appreciative to all those who attended
school board meetings and wrote or called school board members and administrators to share their thoughts
about budget cuts to our orchestra program—part of the core curriculum. Your voices were heard. In fact,
our web site was noticed by the Executive Director of the Wisconsin School Music Association, Michael George.
He was so impressed with our advocacy, that he invited FOTO representatives to present a session at this
fall’s teacher convention in Madison about using a web site for advocacy. We will continue to promote this
site as a current source of information about our orchestra program and ways we can all contribute to make
it the best it can be.
